When was the last time you had your fire extinguishers serviced?
We offer fire extinguisher maintenance contracts tailored to suit you. No ‘off-the-shelf’ packages here – we create bespoke contracts which are carefully created to meet your needs perfectly.
Even if you used a different supplier to purchase your fire extinguishers, we can still put together a maintenance package that’s right for you. Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Enquiry
How often should I have my fire extinguishers serviced?
Industry best practice (to find out more, look into British Standard 5306 part 3) states that you should perform a visual check of all your fire extinguishers once a month. You should check that the fire extinguisher hasn’t been discharged and there is no obvious disrepair.
BS5306:3 also advises that you arrange an annual service which should include the replacement of any parts where needed. Depending on the range of fire extinguishers that you have on your premises, we can offer you a maintenance contract to cover all your equipment.
Some may need more extensive servicing and we can also advise you on this. Have they been discharged? Are they missing clips or other parts? Are they showing signs of wear and tear?
I’ve heard it may be cheaper to replace rather than service?
If you’re running a small business, it may be more cost-effective to replace your fire extinguishers should they need extensive repairs.
We can help you with decommissioning and disposal, making sure it is done safely and in line with environmental regulations. And of course, we can help you decide how to replace your old fire extinguishers with new. It’s wise to check your latest fire risk assessment just in case your risk rating has changed.
What happens if I need help in between service visits?
We’re always on hand for emergency call-outs. There is also the option of adding call-out services to your maintenance package if you think you’ll need them, for example for equipment refilling.
It’s important that your actions keep you on the right side of the law. That’s why we tailor make our contracts around your business activities to protect you.
What are the benefits of regular fire extinguisher maintenance visits?
The most obvious benefit is the upkeep of fire safety equipment on your premises. In the event of a fire, this creates a significant advantage for anyone in the building. We don’t imagine having to fight fire ourselves and it is admittedly rare. Fire extinguishers tend to come in handy for small incidents, for example, a minor kitchen fire in a restaurant. Without the right equipment, something insignificant can quickly get out of hand.
During service visits, we’ll also run wider checks. If your business model has changed since your last fire risk assessment was conducted, your existing equipment may not be adequate. We can double check that any fire risk is minimised as efficiently as possible. This may involve moving equipment to new locations or reviewing safety procedures.
If we believe your fire risk level has increased, we would recommend that you arrange a new fire risk assessment as soon as possible. On the other hand, it may have decreased which means you can adapt safety measures accordingly.
Regular maintenance visits are useful to spot damage or tampering which you could easily have missed. In buildings with high footfalls, this is more likely to happen.
Finally, we’re always happy to chat to staff during our visits about how to use your fire extinguishers should they be uncertain. Staff training is part of the responsible person’s legal duty so it’s worth checking that this is taken care of.

As well as maintaining your fire extinguishers, we can also offer contracts for:
